Firm information

Transparency and affiliations

Wolf Law PLLC publishes how it is structured so that a prospective client can judge the relationships before any engagement.

Two separate companies

Wolf Law PLLC is a law firm. Wolf Transactional Risk, LLC is a separate insurance brokerage under common ownership. They are separate legal entities with separate engagements and separate terms. There is no bundled engagement: retaining one is not a condition of retaining the other, and no purchase of insurance or insurance-related service is a condition of legal representation by the firm.

Administrative support

Any affiliated management services company provides nonlegal administrative support such as billing operations, technology and back-office administration. Such a company does not practice law, does not supervise legal work, and has no authority over professional judgment. Professional decisions — whether to accept a matter, what advice to give, and what is delivered — remain with Wolf Law.

Affiliated insurance referrals

Scott Wolf practices law through Wolf Law PLLC and holds an ownership interest in Wolf Transactional Risk, LLC (WolfTRI). Brokerage revenue, including commissions, may benefit him financially through his ownership. That interest can create a conflict with a legal client's interest in independent advice about whether to buy insurance, which provider to use, and the terms and cost of coverage.

You are free to use another insurance brokerage or separate legal counsel. Retaining either business is not a condition of retaining the other. Legal and brokerage services have separate engagements and billing.

Before an affiliated referral proceeds, Wolf Law must assess the particular conflict and provide the client with written disclosures of the financial interest, relevant terms, risks and alternatives, written advice about the desirability of independent legal advice and a reasonable opportunity to obtain it, and the applicable client-specific written consent. Where the applicable rules require a signed consent, the client must sign. Some conflicts cannot be resolved by consent.

Using another WolfTRI producer does not remove Scott Wolf's ownership interest. Overlapping legal and brokerage work, including later claims or disputes involving either firm's work, requires separate review.

This public notice is not a request for consent and does not replace the matter-specific disclosure and consent process. Visiting a site, making an inquiry or retaining one business does not itself authorize referral to the other or disclosure of client information. Information may be shared only as permitted by applicable professional duties and the client's specific authorization where required. Nothing here waives confidentiality, privilege or duties owed to an existing legal client.

Conflicts

Before any engagement the firm assesses conflicts of interest, including conflicts arising from affiliated entities and from work the firm or its principal previously performed on the same transaction or policy. Some conflicts can be addressed with informed written consent under the applicable rules of professional conduct; others cannot. The firm does not represent that consent resolves every conflict, and it will decline a matter where a conflict cannot properly be addressed.

Scope and competence

Scope, competence, resources, jurisdiction and availability are assessed before any engagement. Scott Wolf is admitted in Illinois. Services in other jurisdictions are undertaken only when permitted by the applicable rules, with other counsel engaged where needed and agreed with the client. If the requirements for a matter cannot be met, the firm declines it.

Working with existing counsel

The firm can act alongside counsel you already use. The engagement records how the work is allocated, which workstreams Wolf Law accepts, and who coordinates that accepted scope. Wolf Law is responsible for the work it accepts; it does not assume responsibility for work retained by other counsel. Continuing counsel remains independent and determines the review required for its own role before relying on any deliverable.

AI and supervision

The firm uses AI as supervised production support. A licensed attorney directs the work, verifies sources, and is responsible for what is delivered. Read the firm's AI and professional responsibility standards.

Fees

Fees are set in writing before work begins. Eligible third-party compute is passed through at the firm's actual net cost with no markup and subject to an approved ceiling stated in the engagement. Flat-rate subscriptions the firm already pays for are covered by the legal fee and are not billed separately.
